Installing the Theme Studio plugin manually

The Theme Studio software requires the installation of the ThemeStudio plugin in order to function properly. Here are the plugin names.

Mac = ThemeStudio.fmplugin
Win = ThemeStudio.fmx

In some cases, based on permission settings on your computer, or if the folder has never existed, the plugin may not be installed automatically by the software -as it attempts to do so.

Here are your options for installing

Option #1 (preferred method)

You can make a connection to our plugin install database. This should not require a restart of FileMaker. Follow these steps.

Make sure there is a folder at this location. These are the locations where AutoUpdate attempts to install the plugin

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\FileMaker\Extensions
Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\FileMaker\Extensions
Mac OS X: Macintosh HD/Users/User Name/Library/Application Support/FileMaker/Extensions

  1. When in FileMaker, use the “Open Remote…” menu from the File menu.
  2. Enter this network path fmnet:/plugin.filemakerthemes.com/ThemeStudioAutoUpdate
  3. Select “Guest” as the login account and login

The plugin should be installed automatically into the proper location (provided you have write permissions to the folder). If you experience an error, you may need to manually install the plugin - see Option #2.

Option #2

Manual installation can be done by quitting FileMaker and placing the plugin into the right location. The AutoUpdate method attempts to install into a shared location specific to your user account. This is different than the indicated locations below (see the note below!)

Download the ThemeStudio plugin

If you don’t have access to install into the shared locations above, you can install into FileMaker’s own Extensions folder. This can be found in these locations.

Mac = /Applications/FileMaker Pro [9,10,11 Advanced]/Extensions
Win = C:\Program Files\FileMaker Pro [9,10,11 Advanced]\Extensions

Please place the plugin for your operating system into this folder and start FileMaker Pro.
